I recently made the trip over to Liverpool for The Loud's EP launch at The Static Gallery. The three piece band features past members of A Love Supreme, previously released by DYR on the 'Dead Young Club Volume 1'. After hearing taster tracks online I was eager for the live experience. They didn't disappoint.
One quote I've found compares their music to "the sensation of walking down Duke Street with a belly full of Cain’s, hitting a wall of sound and waking up in hell". I don't know who wrote that, but it sums it up pretty well. The guitar tone in particular is jagged and violent, which might not be to everyone's taste, but pretty quickly I was craving for its return through every interlude and pause. Kinda like how the first swig of a big bottle of cheap cider can be a bit unpleasant, but sure enough you'll be hitting it back 5 minutes later probably thinking about another one.
I Am A War is becoming a stand out track, and was recently used for an exhibition at FACT, but all the tracks have a feisty swagger to suggest only good things to come for them.
And here's a video of a session again done with Ross from Ghost Town:
