Much fun was had last night at Oporto. The manic movement around a ton of equipment by Juffage kept the audience captivated, and he surprised us all by leaving several stereos around the venue at the end of his set playing noisy/ambient loops. Spirit of John were entertaining as ever, a most consistent quality act. And Thomas Truax was on top form taking a wander around the venue (see above) and even strolling outside to perform through the big window next to the smokers and bouncers. Many thanks to all attendees & involvees (if that's not a word it should be!).
But looking forwards, tomorrow we welcome our second guest DJs to the Neon Cactus in as many weeks. The marvelous Passion Pit will perform a sold-out show at Leeds Met this Thursday 4th March, after which they'll pay us a visit on Call Lane.
Shuttle is the main DJ who, as well as drumming for Passion Pit, is himself an artist and producer of the highly regarded Ninja Tune label. As well as a couple of great mixes up on his Myspace (linked above) there's also a fantastic brand spanking new one from Clash Music to get your hands on that you can stream or download here. Covering the best of dubstep, bassline, garage, techno and ambient house, Shuttle is certain to bring the party in a big way! And if last weeks Hot Chip party is anything to go by, this is going to be another spectacular night!
Also, this weekend sees the return of live music at The Angels Share, and the start of Mojo 57's residency!
On the first Sunday of the month, the Mojo boys will be joined by friends and contemporaries playing Blues, Folk, Americana & Rockabilly. Starting This Sunday 7th March with X-Ray Cat Trio & Troy Faid.
Whoah, that's your lot folks.
Party on!
x
