Dead Young & Oporto present:
Heading up our joyous collection of LoFi Indie popsters are the fantastically shambolic Piskie Sits, sounding like their Wakefield luminaries The Cribs if they’d not got so damn wound up and with all the best influences from Sonic Youth to Teenage Fanclub. Having been blasted all over the radio, even playing live for Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and for Mark Riley on 6music, supports for the likes of The Fall and releases on Louder Than Bombs followed and in a time where the plaid shirt mafia are again lethargically spilling out of our speakers the Piskies remind us that they still do it better than anyone, it’s like Pavement never broke up. Oh, wait.
“Rather wonderful” - The BBC
“Glorious Pavement distortion” – ARTROCKER
Providing the meat in this tasty sandwich are our favourite Hot Boys from Rotherham , a much more agro noise flies out of them, like a mix of Vampire Weekend and Captain Beefheart, all calypso rhythms and disjointed party vibes amidst slacker guitar and equatorial funk mixed with witty drawl. Signed to our good friend’s Everything on Toast, African Bathroom is a god damn TUNE!
You better like The Pastels or these Leeds noiseniks will have a word or two to say about it, fantastic considered indie pop lending equally from quintessentially English romantics such as Morrissey and the messy yet informed fun of Los Campesinos. They blame boredom, but no one is complaining, especially as they’re supporting hero Darren Haymen very soon, get down early to see em first.
