Zoey Van Goey, Young Rebel Set & more!

Hi folks!
Sorry it's been a bit quiet on the blog front. We've been very busy planning plenty of fun stuff coming up, so please read on...

As you can see above, Zoey Van Goey will be gracing us at Oporto on Sunday 28th March. Hailing from Glasgow, the trio's music has been described as "folk-cellar pop with electronic elements", actually I think they have a new 4th member now too. Apparently 'he has curly hair and a beard, and will delight children of all ages', excellent!

Here's a cool video of theirs:

Support comes from Blood Oranges who are amazing simply because they look like this:

...and from David Henshaw, who will be performing for the first time with his new full band!
Free entry, I can't think of a better way of spending my Sunday.

We're also proud to welcome Young Rebel Set to Oporto on Tuesday 30th March

These gritty urban folksters will have had some impressive shows before they join us on this tour, playing an NME Awards Show at Cargo with Detroit Social Club, The Ex Hacienda offices in Manchester with Twisted Wheel and an acoustic gig at the Ramones Museum in Berlin!

"huge, life-affirming songs that nod to Springsteen'n'Dylan" - The Fly
"raw and honest and true... Watch out. Young Rebel Set are coming" - The Guardian
"Imagine The Boss had he been 'Born In The Yorkshire Dales rather than the USA" - NME

Free track from the NME -> HERE.

Support comes from two incredible Scottish acts Three Blind Wolves (who's singer Ross was voted third best Scottish solo artist in the Jock Rock poll for 2009, narrowly behind Malcolm Middleton and King Creosote) & Over The Wall (“This is electro pop with reflective neutrality and bite – 9/10” – Rock Sound). Plus local heroes Albert Ross and The Otters.

And if that isn't enough for you we've even got Yonderboy joining us on the decks inbetween bands and afterwards til the early hours.

Finally, if you're still reading, I'll be spinning some groovy, happy, shiny, daytime musics at the Angels Share on Saturday 27th March for the second of their fabulous monthly Vintage Fairs!

There'll be loads of cool stalls across 3 floors selling everything from mens & womens clothing, records, jewelry, artwork, toys and more. Oh and the swap-shop is ace. Bring in some old clobber and swap it for some new stuff, sweet deal! Well not 100% new but you yknow what I mean...
Details on FACEBOOK EVENT.

And if you got through all that, you deserve a drink.
I'm gonna go make a brew.
x
